ArtCare - B72 Retouching Gels
Slow - Heavy 20

B72 Retouching Gels have a wider application that their name indicates. They can also be used for other conservation-restoration treatments.

Persistent blanching/blooming that reappears on the paint surface once varnish has dried completely can be eliminated or reduced significantly by the use of Slow - Heavy 15  and Slow - Heavy 20 B72 Retouching Gels.

Gel is applied onto the affected area with a bristle brush and rubbed into the paint. The grayish residue from the surface is lifted and mixed with the gel. It has to be wiped of from the surface with an absorbent paper towel and the brush has also to be cleaned. Almost immediately gel has to be applied again and its layer smoothed with a soft, large sable brush in order to avoid the creation of an unnecessary transparent texture. Gel has to be left until the next day to dry completely. If blanching/blooming reappears in some places the treatment described above has to be repeated again on areas that are still affected.
